Principal's Message
Dear Mirror Lake Students and Families,
It is with great excitement, confidence, and commitment, that I join Mirror Lake as your new principal. I am pleased to lead the Mirror Lake community which is known for its culture of care, and support.
I spent the first ten years of my career as a teacher in Highline Public Schools where I earned my National Boards Certification. I spent the last 9 years as an educational leader in Seattle Public Schools where I was an Assistant Principal for 4 years and a Principal for 5 years.
This is my community! I live in Federal Way, and I am a member of the Federal Way Chorale. My husband Donny and I have three young adult daughters who graduated from Federal Way Public Schools and are college graduates. Our youngest twins Aiden and London are excited to begin 6th grade this fall. Our rescue dogs, Joy and Lily; keep our family smiling, laughing, and picking up messes.
As an educator and a parent, I understand that our children are future adults, filled with promise. I know the importance and power of partnering with families and working together so that every child attains their highest potential. I believe each child and adult in our learning community has great value and must be treated with respect. I believe our purpose is to grow and get better, and I believe that we are better, together.
My mission is to promote and support the continual improvement of teaching and learning at Mirror Lake. My role will be to listen to, learn from, and lead our learning community; guided by the goals and action steps that we build together in our School Improvement Plan. Our plan includes ensuring high quality instruction aligned to grade level standards, high levels of teacher collaboration, and high levels of learning for our scholars. This learning includes practicing and building social and emotional skills which supports our safe and welcoming environment at Mirror Lake.
Together, we are Charting our Course toward the continual improvement of our great school. (You may need to click the blue “Browse YouTube” button to view the video linked above)
